2016-06-18 Pastime Park

We got together again this weekend with Tom & Ella and some other, new Airstream friends. This time it was at Pastime Park in Plain City, OH a few miles West and slightly North of Columbus. A little town park or possibly a county park that I would have never found if it weren't for this little rally. The weather was great for the most part all weekend. Carie & I got there Friday afternoon but everyone else was there the day before. A couple were even there two days before. We had an unexpected field trip to the local hospital when Tom got stung by a wasp! Like all of us he's been stung a hundred times in his life with never an incident but this time...WOW! He is suddenly severely allergic to bee stings! Within minutes he swelled up, got hives, got extremely itchy, got disoriented, his throat began to close, etc. Ella tossed me the keys to their truck and ask me to drive him to the hospital so with me driving and friend John riding shotgun we hustled Tom the 8 or10 miles over to the local Dublin Methodist Hospital where when we arrived Tom needed assistance walking at that point and they treated him immediately. At first they scolded us for coming through the ambulance entrance until they realized the severity of the situation. Tom bounced back after some epy and a half dozen medical personnel shooting him up with drugs, testing him, taking readings, etc. They kept him (and Ella) overnight for observation and by morning he returned to the campground and was doing quite well with only his hand and arm still a little swollen but we all have little doubt he would have died from that bee sting. Luckily John is from the local area and only lives a few miles away and knew exactly where the hospital was so with his directions and my crazy driving we got Tom to the hospital pretty quickly. I didn't get any pictures of that whole disaster but Ella did and you can see them on her blog site which I have a link to in my Camping Blogs list on the right side of this page. It's the second one down called Tom & Ella - Airstream. I did, however, highjack one of Ella's photos from here blog to use here. It's the last photo in the group below and it is of Tom in the hospital.

Here are a few shots of our campout, though, so enjoy these...

Tom, John, Suzie, TJ (the dog) and Ella's legs. Friday afternoon before the bee sting incident.

The evening entertainment that actually went quite late like around midnight was Bruce on the mandolin with John and his son on guitars. They were pretty good and it was very enjoyable!
