2013-11-28 Thanksgiving At Hunting Island, SC

Carie & I went down to South Carolina this Thanksgiving week to visit mom. We took the T@B and spent a few days at mom's and a few days at Hunting Island State Park. It was a great visit and a highlight was hand feeding a wild deer at our campsite late one night! We pulled in from visiting at mom's and the deer was at my birdfeeder gorging itself so we got out poured some more food on the picnic table and she came back so I grabbed a handful and she cautiously came over to eat. Pretty cool and Carie loved it!!!

7/13/13 Morgan's Canoe & Campground

Just Carie & I this weekend and we had a great time at Morgan's. Finally we got out this year. It's been a bad year for camping and we've only been out a few times due mainly to the lousy weather this year. This weekend, however, was stellar! low 80's with very low humidity and a breeze. Just beautiful! The river was quite high due to all the rain this past week but we had a good time canoeing it. Just found out they also rent tubes so may have to try that at some point. Also have to give a kayak a try since we never have and they look fun, and easier to maneuver that a canoe. Got a handful of pictures for the blog. The first are some pics of our campsite, enjoy...

Looking at our campsite from across the road (no campsite directly across from us)

Looking straight out of our campsite

Looking to the left with the office in view. The green roof next to us behind the truck is a shelter. They used to have a yurt under it but now it's just a tent site with a shelter.

Morgan's main canoe livery is a three mile Segway glide from the campground. They do canoe to and from the campground, too but we just went out gliding and here's where we went.

Not a great quality picture (sorry) but I thought it was pretty funny so posted it here anyway...

2013-05-26 Indy 500/”Camp Bremer”

Well we did our annual “Camp Bremer” outing for the Indy 500 at our friends Pat & Jennifer Bremer. They live in Speedway, IN just a few blocks from the Indy 500 speedway. This is the 4th year doing this and another T@B couple, Dane & Elaine Andree also attend where we set up our campers in the Bremer’s back yard and have a blast for the long weekend. Dozens of other friends trickle in and out and party all weekend before and after the race and it’s a great time. This year was different for Carie & I, though, because we actually went to the race (Thanks Pat!)!!! Usually Carie & I just hang out at Camp Bremer and don’t actually go to the race as we’re not really huge race fans to begin with but the party and camaraderie at “Camp Bremer” is outstanding with great people and great fun! But this year going to the race was awesome! The word “awesome” is used too often and too lightly these days, but that word truly fits in this case…the Indy 500 was awesome!!! The speed of those cars, the noise, the crowds, the exitement, the whole atmopsphere and energy in the air was just awesome! I’m not a crowd person usually but this was too cool! Another really cool thing is Carie & I are the first ones EVER to be able to bring Segways INTO the Indy 500!!!!!! It was a fight to do so at first (almost literally due to an ignorant gate attendant who had no regard for me or the ADA) but after all was said and done we were allowed in. Well, I got a lot of pictures for the blog this time of Camp Bremer and the race. You’ve heard of “The People of Walmart” well “The People of the Indy 500” is not much different and I got a few pictures of some of the freaks that attended the race, too. They had the 39 runners from the Boston Marathon who did not get to finish the race due to the bombing so they ran a lap in honor! Also got some photo’s of some friends and first-timers on (our) Segways and more, so enjoy the pics…
