2012-08-18 Miami Whitewater Forest w/Anne and "Chief"

We had a really fun weekend! We went to another one of the Hamilton County (OH) Park Districts park, Miami Whitewater Forest. They have an 8 mile multi-use trail that parrallels their horse trail (plus several other shorter trails) and we met Carie's good friend, Anne who brought her awesome horse, Chief. We rode our Segways and Anne rode Chief and we all had a blast! Chief is a great horse and very calm and patient. We've ridden this trail with Anne & Chief before but this is the first time we've camped there. Chief treats the Segways as part of his "herd" and follows them and if we're on the multi-use trail Chief wants to join us so Anne has to keep sterring him back to the horse trail. It's cute! A few time Carie took the lead on the horse trail with Chief & Anne right on her heels. Anne brough him back to the campground and tied him to a tree in our site and he quickly became the hit of the campground! Anne gave several little kids rides on Chief right there through the campsites. It was pretty cool! Funny thing is the three kids on Chiefs back in the last two photos at one point all slid off in unison and two were crying on the ground but after their initial shock all wanted back up and continued their ride! There's just something about kids and horses, especially little girls.

Here how Chief got his name. Notice the Indian chief on his side?!?! His chin, lips, nose and eyebrow are facing Chief's rump and he has two feathers sticking out towards his back and mane!

2012-07-21 CedarBrook Campground

This is a great campground, especially for Segway "gliding". We toured the town on our Segways as well as a really nice old cemetary right next to the campground. We even went down and had lunch at the historic Golden Lamb restaurant. 12 Presidents have visited that place! The latest being George H. W. Bush. Also we have some camp host workamping friend, Ron & Vickie that work here. I let Vickie glide around on the Segway and she loved it. My pictures for this trip consist really of the campground and just "camping scenes" and a few other oddball pictures.

2012-0602 3rd Annual Alumapalooza (And Our New Segways!)

This time I took more photos than I know what to do with! HA! Here's the scoop...we went to the 3rd annual Airstream Alumapalooza put on by Airstream Life magazine and held at the Airstream factory in Jackson Center, OH. I'm not sure the total number of Airstreams and attendees but I believe it was just under 200 of the iconic travel trailers. Our friends Tom & Ella Brown who have a 2010 Airstream Bambi went as did our other friend (and Ella sister) Johanna "Tink" Bryant who has a 2009(?) rPod. Tink and Carie & I stayed at the Wapakoneta KOA in Wapakoneta, OH rather than staying at the Airstream factory's make shift campground with no showers and limited electric. And let me say the Wapakoneta KOA is top notch!!! The campground is one of the cleanest, well kept campgrounds we've been to and the owners and workamper staff are very friendly. The owners (will get their names and fill in the space later) work hard to make it a beautiful campground and it shows. http://wapakonetakoa.com/ and http://koa.com/campgrounds/wapakoneta/   While cruising around the small town of Jackson Center on our new Segways (!) we came upon the towns annual carnival and a cool auto show was just gearing up on Main St. so snapped a few pictures of that, too. Carie & I decided to get Segways rather the scooters because they are more versatile and can even be used indoors at many places. The main reason for the Segways is due to my having a hereditary condition where my feet blister badly after walking any distances so the Segways are sure opening doors for me to do and see things I couldn't otherwise do! And of course I couldn't just get me a Segway and not one for Carie. That wouldn't have gone over well!  HA!   Here's the pics...enjoy!
